Going Home Story Blog:

Tuesday, 4/27/10: Hi all. Sorry for the long wait. I was having a bit of a blockage problem with this story. The good news is that I've posted 1 and 1/2 chapters (chapter 13 and the first part of 14). The bad news is that I don't know when I will be able to finish this story. I've begun writing in another fandom and the story I'm working on has taken off like wild fire and has pretty much got my muse in a head lock (the fandom is Twilight if anyone is interested). However, as God as my witness I will finish Going Home. I just don't know when. Sorry to leave you hanging.

Monday, 1/25/10: HA! The muse lives! Boy, according to this blog, I haven't updated this story in a LOOONG time. Sorry about that. The holidays and the fact that my laptop took a swan dive right around Christmas has slowed me down. But I'm trying hard to get back in the goove. So in that vein, Chapter 12 has been posted. Enjoy! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and the new year has been good to you. Take care.

Tuesday, 11/24/09: Happy Thankgiving everyone! I've finally finished chapter 11 and it's now posted. Sorry it's taking me SO long to write this story. This time of year is so hectic and I'm still struggling with a job that I hate and so my inspiration is not always what it should be. But I have not, or do I plan to give up on the story. I am currently working on Chapter 12 and will continue to post them here on my website. I just don't know how it will take for me to finish this story. Thanks so much for your patience and all the encouraging feedback. I hope you all have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Sunday, 10/18/09:  Hi guys. I hope you're all having a great fall. I've been plugging away at the story and I've just posted chapters 9 and 10. Since it's taking me so long to get chapters done, for now I'll only be posting this story here on my website. Thanks for your patience. And another big thanks to my betas, Joell, Shan, Cathy, Anne Marie, Rick and Phil. They are the best team I could have asked for. Their input and support has been invaluable. If I don't talk to you all again before, I'd like to wish you all a Happy Halloween!

Sunday, 9/27/09: Hi all, the next three chapters of "Going Home" are now posted to my website. I've also gotten around to finally making a masthead for the story as well.  Sorry for the delay in getting the new chapters done. As usual, real life is conspiring to rob me of time and inspiration to write. I am almost half done with chapter 9 though so hopefully you won't have to wait too long for it.  Thanks for your patience. Thanks to all my beta for helping me through the process and giving me such great support.

Saturday, 7/25/09 - Well, I bet there are those among you out there that thought I'd NEVER get around to working on the sequel to "Little Wonders" (including me). As many of you know, time and 'real life' often get in the way, not to mention I'm often at the mercy of my muse and if she's speaking to me on a given day or not. But I've got the first 5 chapters finished and I'm starting to post them today. They'll also be posted on the WW Talking Points message board and the JD FF message board and when all is said and done it will be posted over at the National Library as well.

As I mentioned in my opening author's notes (see the prologue), I had a teams of betas on this one and their help was invaluable. So many, many thanks to Joell, Shan, Cathy, Anne Marie and Rick.

I know this story starts out a bit slow, but any feedback you can give me would be greatly appreciated. This story is a bit of a departure for me. Donna and Josh are already together, so this is showing what you don't always see after two characters finally get together or married...the morning after.  I guess this story is my own "what's next". I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with it and because of it, I'm not sure how long it will take for me to write the next chapter(s), but I hope you like it.

Title: Going Home

Author: Suzy K

Rating: PG to NC-17

Category: Drama/Angst/Romance/AU

Characters: Josh/Donna

Follows: “Talking Points” - Season 6

Spoilers:  Everything up through “Talking Points”

Summary:  Josh and Donna’s life together continues in the framework of “Little Wonders” and a variation of West Wing canon.

Disclaimers: The West Wing and its characters don't belong to me, never will.  Aaron Sorkin, Warner Bros, NBC and Co. thought of them first. I just like to play with them and see what happens. I do this out of a love for the show and no infringement is intended. Hannah and Jake are all mine.

Author’s Note: This is a sequel to my other Josh/Donna fan fiction story “Little Wonders.” In canon timeline, it starts somewhere around "Talking Points" in Season 6 and picks up right after the end of “Little Wonders.” If you haven’t read that story, then you’re probably going to be a bit lost. Thanks to the veritable team of betas that helped me out with this story - my faithful betas Joell and Shan and my new betas and fellow "Electric Mayhem" band members Cathy, Anne Marie and Rick! I couldn't do it without you guys!

If you need a summary of “Little Wonders”...Josh found out that he had a half brother who was killed in a car accident and left behind 2 young children, Jake and Hannah. Those children came to live with Josh and eventually he adopted them. The children brought Donna and Josh closer together and at the end of the story they were married. Donna was promoted and now works for Leo as the special assistant to the White House Chief of Staff. Also, as in “Little Wonders,” Sam went to California and ran for the Congress, was defeated, but came back to work in the White House afterward and he and Ainsley are now dating.

Oh, and I SWEAR the title is not some euphemism for a major character death or something. It comes from a song called “Home” by Daughtry (I like “Going Home” for a title better than just “Home”).

I’m goin’ home to the place where I belong, where your love has always been enough for me.
